Payment methods

In the HSL app, you can pay using the most common bank and credit cards, mobile payment and commuter benefits, or via your phone bill. The payment will usually be charged to your chosen payment method within a few days.

• Card payment: Visa, Mastercard and American Express

  • At the time of purchase, a pre-authorization may be placed on your debit or credit card. It usually appears in your card details immediately. The actual payment is typically charged within a few days, either to your bank account or credit card, depending on the card you used for the transaction.

  • Your card must be enabled for online use through your bank. Keep in mind any security limits for online purchases set by your bank or yourself.

  • Auto-renewing subscriptions are charged to your bank or credit card every 30 days.

  • We use Verified by Visa, Mastercard SecureCode and American Express SafeKey for authentication. If your debit or credit card is registered for one of these services, it will be used to verify your identity.

• Mobile payment: MobilePay

  • At the time of purchase, a pre-authorization may be placed on your debit or credit card. It usually appears in your card details immediately. The actual payment is typically charged within a few days, either to your bank card or credit card, depending on the card you used for the transaction. If you selected bank account as your payment method in the payment app, the payment is usually charged immediately.

• Phone bill: Elisa, Telia and DNA 

  • You can pay by phone bill for purchases up to €50. A payment method fee of 1.6% will be added to the ticket price when paying this way. Your mobile operator will charge the purchase on your next phone bill.

• Commuter benefits: Epassi, Edenred Mastercard, Smartum, Zevoy Visa.

  • At the time of purchase, a pre-authorization may be placed on your Edenred Mastercard and Zevoy Visa. It usually appears in your card details immediately. The actual payment is typically charged to your card within a few days.
  • When you pay using Epassi or Smartum, the payment is charged to your Epassi or Smartum commuter benefit balance, and you will see it in your Epassi or Smartum transaction history.

In the HSL Ticket Store, you can top up your HSL card with season tickets and value.

You can pay using online banking or MobilePay.

• Online banking:
  You can use the payment buttons for Nordea, Osuuspankki, Danske Bank, Säästöpankki, Oma Säästöpankki, POP Pankki, Aktia, Ålandsbanken and S-Pankki to pay directly from your bank account.

• Mobile payment:
  You can pay using the MobilePay app. The payment will be charged to your bank account, debit card, or credit card, depending on the payment method you have selected in the app.

The actual payment is typically charged within a few days, either to your bank account or credit card, depending on which card you used for the transaction. If you selected bank account as your payment method in the payment app, the payment is usually charged immediately.

At the HSL service point, you can pay using a debit or credit card, a commuter benefit, or cash. When paying by card, an authorization hold is placed at the time of purchase.

• Card payments: Visa, Mastercard, American Express

On buses, the Metro, trams, commuter trains, and HSL’s ferry services, you can buy single tickets using contactless Visa or Mastercard.

• Card payments: Visa, Mastercard
  Edenred Mastercard is not accepted as a payment method.
• Mobile payment: Apple Pay, Google Pay
