Bank holidays and changes to public transport services
Below there is a list of all the dates when HSL public transport will operate to special timetables. Please note that changes are possible for instance during school holidays or due to public events.

Sunday 5 January 2025 On the eve of Epiphany, January 5, a Sunday service will operate. In addition, night services will operate on the night between Sunday 5 and Monday 6 January.
Monday 6 January 2025 On Epiphany, a Sunday service will operate.
Monday 17 February – Friday 21 February 2025 School bus routes will not operate at all or run to the school holiday timetables.
Sunday 30 March 2025 Switch to summer time: the clocks will go forward one hour at 3am. Saturday service will operate to winter time, including early morning services. Beginning from Sunday morning, services will operate to summer time.
Thursday 17 April 2025 On Maundy Thursday, a Friday service will operate. However, neighborhood bus routes will operate a normal Thursday service.
Friday 18 April 2025 On Good Friday, a Sunday service will operate. Additionally, night services will operate on the night between Good Friday and Holy Saturday.
Sunday 20 April 2025 On Easter Sunday, a Sunday service will operate. Additionally, night services will operate on the night between Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.
Monday 21 April 2025 On Easter Monday, a Sunday service will operate.
Wednesday 30 April 2025 On Wednesday 30 April, a Friday service and additional services will operate. The Metro and commuter trains on the Ring Rail Line will run approximately two hours later than usual. However, neighborhood bus routes will operate a normal Wednesday service.
Thursday 1 May 2025 On Thursday 1 May, a Sunday service and additional services will operate.
Wednesday 28 May 2025 On the eve of Ascension Day, Wednesday 28 May, a Friday service will operate. However, neighborhood bus routes will operate a normal Wednesday service.
Thursday 29 May 2025 On Ascension Day, a Sunday service will operate.
Saturday 31 May 2025 On the last day of school, school bus routes and night buses will run with additional services, if necessary. In addition, the Metro will run approximately two hours longer than usual.
Monday 2 June – Friday 13 June 2025 School bus routes will not operate at all or run to the school holiday timetables or summer timetables.
Monday 16 June 2025 Switch to summer timetables.
Thursday 19 June 2025 On Thursday 19 June, a Friday service will operate. However, neighborhood bus routes will operate a normal Thursday service.
Friday 20 June 2025 On Midsummer Eve, Friday 20 June, a Saturday service will operate. However, U-line buses will operate a reduced service from the afternoon onwards.
Saturday 21 June 2025 On Midsummer Day, Saturday 21 June, a Sunday service will operate. Additionally, night buses will operate on the night between of Friday 20 June. U-line buses will operate a reduced service.
Monday 11 August 2025 Switch to winter timetables.
Monday 13 October–Friday 17 October 2025 School bus routes will not operate at all or run to the school holiday timetables. The autumn break starts at different times depending on the municipality.
Sunday 26 October 2025 Summer time ends, and the clocks will go back one hour at 4am. Saturday service will operate to summer time. In other words, also early morning services will operate to summer time. Beginning from Sunday morning, transport services will operate to winter time. If necessary, additional night services will operate.
Saturday 1 November 2025 On All Saints’ Day, Saturday 1 November, a Saturday service will operate. U-line buses will operate a Sunday service. There will be additional services to the Hietaniemi cemetery.
Saturday 6 December 2024 On Independence Day 6 December, a Sunday service will operate. In addition, night bus services and additional pre-Christmas services will also be running.
Tuesday 23 December 2024 – Tuesday 6 January 2025 If necessary, buses, trams and the Metro will operate a reduced service during the holiday season between Christmas and Epiphany due to decreased demand. School bus routes will not operate at all or run to the school holiday timetables. The start date of the Christmas holiday varies across municipalities.
Wednesday 24 December 2024 On Christmas Eve, a Sunday service will operate. U-line buses will mainly operate a Saturday service, but a reduced service will operate from the afternoon. Trams and commuter trains to Riihimäki and Lahti will operate a reduced service from 4pm. There will be additional services to the Hietaniemi cemetery.
Thursday 25 December 2024 On Christmas Day, 25 December, a Sunday service will operate approximately from 11am. U-line buses and trams will operate a reduced service. Commuter trains will operate a reduced service on Christmas Day morning, a normal Sunday service will operate from 11am. The Suomenlinna ferry will operate a Sunday service throughout the day.
Friday 26 December 2024 On Boxing Day, a Sunday service will operate.
Wednesday 31 December 2024 On New Year’s Eve, a Friday service and additional night services will operate. The Metro and commuter trains on the Ring Rail Line will run approximately two hours later than usual. However, neighborhood bus routes will operate a normal Wednesday service.
Thursday 1 January 2025 On New Year’s Day, a Sunday service will operate.
Monday 5 January 2026 On the eve of Epiphany, January 5, Friday service will operate. Neighborhood routes will operate a normal Monday service.
Sunday 6 January 2026 On Epiphany, a Sunday service will operate.
Monday 16 February – Friday 20 February 2026 School bus routes will not operate at all or run to the school holiday timetables.
