Paper single and day tickets

We have completely revamped our ticket purchasing processes and backend systems. The old disposable cardboard cards are no longer available in the new system. However, you can continue to use these cards until 31 December 2025, after which any unused cards can be exchanged for corresponding tickets on the HSL app or for new QR code tickets until 30 September 2027.

You can conveniently purchase single tickets via the HSL app, at card readers on board public transport and at stations using contactless payment, at sales and service points, and from ticket machines.

Tickets for 1 to 13 days are available via the HSL app. You can purchase one-day tickets at sales and service points, as well as from select ticket machines.

Single and day tickets available at sales and service points from 24 September can be used within 90 days from the moment of purchase. In other words, you don’t need to use your ticket right away.

The ticket is valid from the moment you show it to a card reader. For example:

• A single ticket for zones AB is valid for 80 minutes from the moment you show it to a card reader.
• A day ticket is valid for 24 hours from the moment you show it to a card reader.

Show your QR code single or day ticket to the card reader on a public transport vehicle or at a station at the start of your first journey. You can change from one public transport vehicle to another as many times as you like during the validity of the ticket.

If you change from one public transport vehicle to another, you only need to show your ticket again to the card reader on the blue buses. On all other modes of transport, you can simply board without needing to show the ticket again to the reader. Have a pleasant journey!

You can continue using the disposable cardboard cards until 31 December 2025. Starting 1 January 2026, you can replace an unused ticket with a corresponding ticket on the HSL app or a QR code ticket at a service point until 30 September 2027.
