Penalty fare

A penalty fare may be cancelled afterwards upon consideration if you had an appropriate and valid season ticket on your personal HSL card when the penalty fare was issued, and you can, upon inspection, reliably prove your identity to the ticket inspector with a photographic ID. The penalty fare can be cancelled within 30 days from the day when it was issued at the HSL service point. A service fee of EUR 8 will be charged. The single ticket sold by the ticket inspector will not be refunded.

Please bring with you:

• The penalty fare ticket
• Your personal HSL card to show your season ticket valid at the moment of ticket inspection
• An official ID document (an official ID card, passport, Kela card with photograph)

In case of children, a minor’s ID card or a Kela card are accepted as proof of identity.

If you presented a photo ID document to the ticket inspector when the penalty fare was issued, another person can have the fare cancelled on your behalf. The person will need a power of attorney from you.
