A popular destination

Suomenlinna is a historic sea fortress situated just off the coast of Helsinki. It’s one of the city’s most popular attractions and is easily accessible by a short ferry ride from the heart of the capital.

For more information about Suomenlinna and how to travel there with a bicycle or car, please visit the official Suomenlinna website.

How to buy a ticket for the Suomenlinna ferry

You can buy a ticket for the ferry using contactless payment, the HSL app, or a ticket machine.

You can travel to Suomenlinna with any HSL ticket that includes zone A (AB, ABC, or ABCD). For the journey between Market Square and Suomenlinna, an AB ticket is sufficient. An adult AB single ticket costs EUR 3.30. The ticket is valid for 90 minutes

If you need a ticket for a longer duration, buy a day ticket for the desired zones and validity. You can use the same ticket across all HSL modes of transport.

Buy a ticket with contactless payment

Contactless payment is an easy and secure way to purchase tickets. Simply select the zones and tap your debit/credit card (Visa or Mastercard) on the card reader. Contactless payment is available for adult single tickets.

Buy a ticket via the HSL app

Buy single, day or season tickets easily via the HSL app. The app also provides you with up-to-date route and timetable information. Download the free app from AppStoreGooglePlay or AppGallery.

Buy a ticket at a ticket machine

You can also buy your ticket at the ticket machines located at the ferry piers at Market Square and on Suomenlinna. Use the sales point search to find their exact locations. The machines are marked with the ticket icon shown here.

Buy a ticket from a sales point

HSL tickets are also available at selected grocery stores and kiosks, including R-kiosk and Alepa, S-market and Prisma stores. Additionally, tickets are available at the HSL service point located in the Mall of Tripla, at Pasila railway station. To find contact details and locations of these sales points, use the sales point search.

Please note!

Return tickets from Suomenlinna can only be purchased using contactless payment at the card readers, via the HSL app, or at the ticket machine located at the ferry pier.

If the ticket machine is out of service, please use contactless payment or the HSL app to buy your return ticket. If you are unable to use either option, we recommend purchasing a day ticket from a sales point on the mainland before your visit to Suomenlinna.

One ticket for all modes of transport

Did you know that the same HSL ticket can be used for all forms of public transport? For example, if you buy a day ticket to visit Suomenlinna, you can also use it on HSL trams, trains, the Metro, and buses, as long as the ticket is valid when you board.
