Multi-user HSL cards and old personal HSL cards are no longer in use

Multi-user and personal HSL cards look identical. If you are sharing your HSL card with someone else, it is most likely a multi-user card.

A personal HSL card can only be used by the owner of the card. A multi-user HSL card was designed for shared use and could be used by anyone who was holding the card and belonged to the same customer group (adult or child). Multi-user HSL cards were primarily used by companies, organizations and schools.

You can buy a personal HSL card at the HSL service point or at a municipal service point for a fee of €5. 

Children aged 7 to 17 can download the HSL app on their phones free of charge and use it to purchase single, day and season tickets. To buy season tickets, the child must have their own HSL account, which can be created in the HSL app. Creating an account requires strong authentication using the child's own online banking credentials or a mobile certificate. In other words, the child must have their own online banking credentials or a mobile certificate to create an HSL account.

You can also purchase a personal HSL card for your child. The card can be topped up with season tickets or value for buying single tickets. Personal HSL cards can be purchased at the HSL service point or at a municipal service point. You can top up the card with value or season tickets easily in the HSL Ticket Store or at sales or service points.

Children under 7 years of age do not need a ticket. You can buy single and day tickets for your child aged 7 to 17 traveling with you in the HSL app and at sales and service points. Single tickets are also available at ticket machines. Some ticket machines also sell one-day tickets.

Multi-user HSL cards and personal HSL cards that have not been used for a long time no longer work, and you cannot see any remaining tickets or value on these cards when using a card reader. Refunds for any remaining value or tickets on discontinued HSL cards could be claimed until 31 December 2025. Claiming a refund for these cards is no longer possible.
