One card for all journeys

In the Ticket Store as well as at sales and service points, you can top up your HSL card with:

• Season tickets
• Value

You can also top up another person’s HSL card, such as your child’s or a friend’s.

Please note that day tickets are no longer available for HSL cards.

The Ticket Store accepts the following payment methods:

• Online banking
• MobilePay

Sales and service points accept the following payment methods:

• At the HSL service point, you can pay by cash, debit or credit card, Edenred Työmatka card, Smartum Pay, and Epassi.
• At other sales and service points, you can pay by cash and/or card. Please check the accepted payment methods at each location.

To top up your HSL card in the Ticket Store, you’ll need:

• An HSL account
  • If you have an HSL card, you usually automatically have an HSL account.
  • You log in to your HSL account with your phone number or email and password.
• An HSL card
• Online banking credentials or a mobile certificate for strong authentication and payment. You can also pay with MobilePay.

At sales and service points, you only need your HSL card and a payment method accepted at the location.

Please note:

If you are entitled to a discount (such as a student discount or a pensioner discount for those receiving a pension from Kela) and your discount entitlement has not yet been updated on your HSL card, you must visit a service point. Please bring any documents required for the discount. Read more about ticket discounts and the documents required here.

Once you top up your HSL card—whether in the Ticket Store, at a sales point, or at a service point—your season ticket or value is ready to use right away. Have a pleasant journey!

Students, pensioners receiving a pension from Kela, people over 70 years, and people with reduced mobility who live permanently in the HSL area can buy HSL tickets at a discounted rate. In addition, children aged 7 to 17 can buy tickets at a discount. Depending on the ticket type and customer group, the discount applies to season, single, and zone extension tickets, available either via the HSL app or on the HSL card.

The following discounts are available only on the HSL card:

• Pensioners receiving a pension from Kela (the Social Insurance Institution of Finland): you can buy season, single, and zone extension tickets at a 50 percent discount using your HSL card. Read more about senior tickets.
• People with reduced mobility: under certain conditions, you can buy season, single, and zone extension tickets at a 50 percent discount using your HSL card. Read more about the discount for people with reduced mobility.

The following discounts are available either via the HSL app or on the HSL card:

• Students: you can buy season tickets at a 40 percent discount either via the HSL app or on your HSL card. Read more about the student discount.
• People aged 70 or over: you can buy season tickets at a 40 percent discount either via the HSL app or on your HSL card. Read more about senior tickets.
